How to Prepare Your Church for Mobile Donations
Is your place of worship new to accepting mobile donations? Want to make sure your parishioners get on board and use the new technology? Follow these steps to ensure a successful mobile giving launch at your church.
Step 1: Get Your Team On Board
Mobile donations simplify the giving process not only for your members, but also for your staff. When donations are made using mobile devices, your team will have fewer checks and cash to count after offering time, and less funds to carry to the bank for deposit.
But in order to have a smooth launch, be sure to fully inform your finance team about the ins and outs of your new giving method. Since they will be keeping track of the church’s donations, they need to have a firm grasp on how to use the dashboard to view and track donations. They also will need to understand how to download and print detailed reports.
If they have this knowledge prior to launch, your first day of mobile giving will have fewer hiccups.
Step 2: Have a Dedicated Launch Day
Be organized and intentional with how you add mobile donations to your church’s fundraising options. To start using the technology without a plan would be a mistake.
Set a specific Sunday as your mobile giving launch day. Announce it in advance, so that your members know something big is coming. When the big day arrives, kick things off by showing our 90 second demo video:
To really hit the message home, take the time to explain the new technology and encourage your parishioners to use it. When they see that everyone is making this a priority, they will be sure to join in on the giving.
Step 3: Educate Your Members About Mobile Donations
To have the most success with launching mobile donations at your church, your parishioners have to get on board. Now that you have used your official launch day to spread the word, they know the basics. But to really ensure that they use the technology going forward, step up and educate them one-on-one.
Show them how the technology works. Walk them through making a donation. Demonstrate how the ease and convenience of making mobile donations will benefit them.
Step 4: Lead By Example
Now that you’ve talked up the wonders of mobile donations, you need to follow through. If your parishioners see you and your team fall back on old forms of giving yourselves, they will do the same.
Set a good example for your churchgoers. Use the new mobile option when you give offerings to the church. By seeing you use the technology, your parishioners will be more likely to keep using it as well.
