Will Church Giving Apps Make Offering Plates Obsolete?
Your parishioners delight in church giving. They rarely miss a tithing opportunity. But they don’t always carry cash. In stores, they often pay with debit or credit cards.
They probably won’t write a check for the offering plate, either. In fact, 6.1 billion fewer checks were written in 2009 than 2006 (ServiceU).

5 Storytelling Tips for Your #GivingTuesday Campaign
The beauty of a movement like #GivingTuesday is that the nonprofit world gets to shine in the midst of the chaotic and overwhelming madness that is the holiday retail season.
But let’s face it: when your nonprofit is one of hundreds, or thousands participating in this growing global giving day, making your story stand out can be an intimidating task. #GivingTuesday Giving Will Double in 2014 — and That’s a Good Thing
The amount of money donated on #GivingTuesday has doubled each year since 2012, and it is predicted to double again in 2014. If this were a stock it is the kind of thing that would have Jim Cramer jumping up and down throwing bulls all over the set and hitting the ‘buy buy buy’ button. While this isn’t the get-rich-quick world, it is something that nonprofits should be investing in.
Last year Giving Tuesday helped raise $27 million for nonprofits. This total was more than double the $12 million raised in 2012. Giving Tuesday was created by the 92nd Street Y in 2012 as a way of promoting a day of giving to compete with the otherwise commercially branded Black Friday and Cyber Monday around ThanksGiving. This year, we at Whole Whale think Giving Tuesday will raise over 54 million dollars!

Pack the Pantries: Why Local Families Need Your Help
Pack the Pantries, a hunger relief initiative by Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard’s Front Porch Alliance, aims to raise food and monetary donations to Gleaner’s and Midwest Food Banks. These local food banks can leverage $1 into 3 meals for needy Hoosier families.
Why is Pack the Pantries important? Why should you use your hard-earned money to help people so close to home? Needy families here in the United States don’t have it so bad. After all, they live in the richest country in the world. How could anyone possibly go hungry here in America?
