Mobilizing Aid for Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands

With three major hurricanes devastating parts of the country in a matter of weeks, it’s easy to become fatigued of all the pleas for help. It’s understandable that Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands might be lost in the shuffle, but Hurricane Maria affected more than three million people in these U.S. territories.

According to an NBC News story, one resident said, “You feel like you’re forgotten. I’m in an area that’s flooded and there’s basically dead animals — cats, dogs, rats just floating around — the smell is crazy and I don’t see anyone here anywhere as of today or yesterday.”

Givelify organizations recently rallied to raise relief funds and offer assistance to victims of Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma. Now it’s time to help our fellow citizens in the Caribbean…

If your organization is mobilizing aid for hurricane Maria relief in Puerto Rico and/or the U.S. Virgin Islands, please visit our Givelify Disaster Relief page and fill out the entry form. Our Givelify team will share this on our blog, social media, and in an email to all our donors so people all around the country can help wherever they are.

You will need to provide the following information:

• Your name
• Your email address
• Your organization’s name
• Your city and state
• Your Social Giving link (how to find yours)
• A brief summary (maximum 100 words) of your fundraising needs or efforts

If you would like to be featured, we ask that you add an envelope/campaign for hurricane relief in your Givelify profile so donors can direct their contributions to this cause.

Please submit your information no later than 12 noon Eastern Time on Monday, October 2, as we will be sending out this communication at the end of the day.
